Pharmacy staff vaccinations update

Clarity would like to update you on the HSE plans for vaccination of pharmacists and pharmacy teams.

The aim of the HSE is to have all cohorts in categories 2(a) to 2(g) vaccinated with the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine by the end of February, with a 12-week interval before the second dose. The HSE has advised that appointments for vaccination will be scheduled as soon as possible and will generally be delivered via a local acute hospital-based service.

All pharmacy staff can begin registration via a dedicated HSE portal from today, Tuesday 9 February, prior to vaccination. The portal will be used to facilitate scheduling of your vaccination appointment and the link is https://www.hse.ie/hcwvaccine/

Please read the HSE guidance on using the COVID-19 vaccines registration portal before starting. You can find that here -

If you are unsure which category you fall into, please read the below:

If you are planning on becoming a COVID-19 vaccinator (you must have administered flu vaccines in the 2020-2021 winter period), you will be in category 2(a), which is the highest priority group for vaccination for health care workers.

Non-vaccinator pharmacists are in category 2(d) along with patient-facing pharmacy staff who work in community settings providing walk-in access for patients/service users.

After registering personal details, you will receive a notification with details of your vaccine appointment date and location and a link to re-access the system to consent to your vaccination.

Please only access the registration site using the Google Chrome browser – the portal does not work in Internet Explorer.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or call the national helpline on 0818 300 300
