When new nurses sign up to do agency work with us, one of the most common questions asked is: how much do I get paid? (Let’s face it- we don’t work to live on fresh air!) To make it easier for our new nurses, we’ve compiled a list of our most commonly asked questions and answers below. If you have any more questions that are not answered here, you can always reach out to us via phone or email where a dedicated recruitment consultant will attend to your questions.
A few factors affect the rate of pay, including the urgency to fill the shift, the client and the notice period. As an agency we pay nurses basic €30 per hour, €40 night rates, €50 Sundays, €60 Sunday nights.
The HSE and some clients are required to pay in line with INMO salary scales, if there is an urgency to fill the role they can change this.
Sundays and bank holidays are paid at double time. There is a premium rate for after 8pm.
*These rates only apply to non-HSE facilities.
Nurses are paid weekly in arrears on a Thursday. Payslips are issued on a Wednesday and if you have any issues or questions regarding your payment you can contact accounts directly who will be happy to assist you.
Payment comes through on a Thursday, after lunch time, depending on your bank.
To claim your annual leave, you must submit a request via your profile on the Clarity Locums website or App. The holidays must be taken, and you will not be placed during this period of your leave. The holiday year runs from January 1 through December 31, holiday pay will be accrued during this time and can be claimed until the 30th of June the following calendar year.
Yes, there is. The qualifying criteria is that you must have worked 40 hours in the preceding 5 weeks up to the day before a bank holiday. If you qualify for the bank holiday entitlement or if you work on a public holiday you must receive a normal day’s pay or an extra day paid leave or an extra day’s holiday.
This is completed and uploaded on your personal accrued holiday pay entitlement as an additional day of holiday within three weeks of the bank holiday.
Yes there is. For the part-time/agency nurses the BH is paid as one-fifth of their weekly pay. We base the calculation on the average of the past 13 weeks to get the average week's pay and we add a 1/5 of that to the holiday allowance.
If a client cancels a shift within three working days of the intended shift they are obliged to pay the agency nurse for 4 hours of the cancelled shift if Clarity Locums or the said employer is unable to secure them an alternative shift.
Since 1 January 2023, you have a right to 3 days’ sick pay a year. This is called statutory sick pay (that means the legal minimum). Sick pay is paid by your employer at 70% of your normal pay up to a maximum of €110 a day. You must be working at least 13 weeks with your employer before you can get statutory sick pay.
In order to apply for sick pay you must contact payroll confirming your days out sick, with a valid doctors certificate.
Unfortunately due to the nature of working as an agency nurse, pensions can not be facilitated through payroll. You can choose to do this privately and we will be more than happy to give advice and contact details where needed.
if you choose to pay pension yourself, you can submit a form for to revenue at year end and receive a tax refund as they will recalculate their taxes paid
