Covid19 update: Travelling to Ireland

All people coming to Ireland must complete a COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form and provide evidence of a negative or 'not detected' Covid-19 PCR test (carried out no more than 72 hours prior to arrival in Ireland) or have evidence that is an exempt person from this legal requirement.

If people don't fill out the COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form, they can be fined up to €2,500 or get a prison sentence of up to 6 months! The form is available online and must be filled before arriving in Ireland.

All people who have travelled from 33 countries considered high risk countries must complete a mandatory hotel quarantine.

High risk countries are: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Eswatini, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Republic of South Africa, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, Venezuela, Austria and United Arab Emirates.

Additional information on Mandatory Hotel Quarantine, including in relation to costs, is available at: www.gov.ie/quarantine. There you will also find this information available in German, Portuguese and Spanish.

Exempt from this requirement are, for example, international transport workers (including workers in aviation, maritime and road haulage sectors), passengers who arrive in Ireland solely for the purpose of travelling onwards to another state and do not leave the port or airport, patients travelling for urgent medical reasons and children aged 6 and under. See all exceptions here.
