Compliance Documents for Locum Pharmacists in the UK
Thinking of locuming in 2023? In order to get set up and book shifts with Clarity Locums, pharmacists will need to make sure they are fully compliant in the regions they wish to work in. Below is a list of the relevant documents necessary to work as a locum pharmacist in each area of the UK.
Pharmacists in England and Wales
- Passport
- Additionally for Non UK or Non Irish locums - Right to Work Share Code (Access here)
- DBS (Must be subscribed to the update service)

- Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Picture of Smart Card
- SCR access + 5F Smartcard declaration
- Summary Care Records
- Discharge Medicines Service
- Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS) - Self-assessment here
- Choose Pharmacy (Wales only) will need NADEX login to access - Declaration
Pharmacists in Scotland
- Passport
- Additionally for Non UK or Non Irish locums - Right to Work Share Code (Access here)
- Indemnity Insurance (in date)
- Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG Certificate)
- If you don't have a PVG Scheme Record yet we can request a PVG Scheme Record for you. It costs £59. If you are already a member of the PVG we need a PVG Scheme Record Update. It costs £18. Just let us know and we can start the application for you.
Pharmacists in Northern Ireland
- Passport

Dispensers and Technicians
- Passport

- NVQ Level 2 Dispensing (Dispensers only)
- Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians only)
- Professional Indemnity Insurance (Technicians only)

- Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG Certificate) (Scotland only)
